TERM 3

No matter how many terms click over it never, ever ceases to surprise me how much a community like a school can manage to pack into such a short amount of time. The truly incredible amount of stuff that gets done in a school across a term is quite remarkable. And the only way that happens is down to the tireless work people in schools do to make sure it all happens. The team of people at Gowrie St also never cease to amaze me because it is down to them, their hours of work, their unwavering dedication to our students and their resourcefulness, flexibility and creativity make it all seem effortless. It is however NOT effortless, it is far from it. This term at Gowrie St has been a tough one. We have had lots of people unwell and away and it has at times been really hard to find people to cover classes and get all the things we need to get done done. And no matter how tough, how tricky a day might look, the teachers and ES at Gowrie St, unfailingly, step up and make it work. And it is tough on kids too, when they expect their teacher and the teacher is away or when they were excited about an activity and it's had to change. This is tough on kids, but this term our students have shown a massive amount of resilience, excellence and empathy to understand that sometimes things have to be different than we might expect and that we get on with our day and do the best we can

. Lots of kids have also been sick and this takes a toll on their learning which can take a toll on their confidence but again they have stepped up, returned to school and jumped right back into their learning.

Hopefully, we are on the tail end of our winter coughs and colds and flu and that Term 4 brings us all back to school healthy and rearing to go.

Thank you so much to all our staff at Gowrie St for sticking through tough times this term and thank you for all the extra love you bring each day in the face of those tough times. Thank you to our families for your hard work every single day, getting your children to school, ready to learn each day, even when you yourselves may be feeling under the weather, and thank you to all our amazing children for their Pride, Determination and Excellence this term!

DREAM BIG CONFERENCES

Thank you so much to all the families that came to our student-led conferences. Our kids have put in so much work across this year so far and it was really important that they could show this off to families. So often families ask the question, "What did you do at school today?", only to hear back "Nothing" and so to see what they have been doing is so fantastic. It is so important that children see their parents value the work they do and the effort they put in at school. School is challenging, school is tiring and school is really great, so allowing students to show their families all those aspects is really important and lets them know they are seen and valued and that their efforts are noticed.
