Chess

During the term, our students have been practicing their chess skills at the lunch-time chess club to prepare for a chess tournament. On Thursday this week, we hosted the inaugural chess tournament with students from Guthrie St PS, Kialla West PS and St Georges Rd PS. Julian Solway-Harding, Imran Bhatia, Alexis Standley, Issac MaClean, Chase O'Sullivan and Prabjot Singh were chosen to represent our school in the tournament. Each of these students should be proud as they showed excellent sportsmanship and competed to the best of their ability. The students competed in 5 rounds of chess in order to crown a champion. Congratulations to our very own Prabjot Singh who went undefeated all day and was the winner of our tournament. See our Week In Pictures below.
Where to park at Gowrie St
In the past few weeks we have had a number of parents receive fines of $198 in the mail for parking and dropping off illegally. Parking and dropping out the front of the school along Gowrie St and in the Manega driveway is not allowed- there are NO STANDING signs. Please see the below photos of where and where NOT to park & drop off. Also please do not park in the driveways of houses opposite the school in Gowrie St. We have had residents of those houses in making complaints.

At school, on time, EVERY DAY!
We have an increase in students arriving late for school. The mornings are the most valuable learning time and when we try to get all the important new learning done. This is when our Reading, Writing, Spelling and Maths learning happens. Even being an hour late really puts children's progress at risk, and if this is on a regular basis, it becomes almost impossible for them to catch up, which then affects their confidence and willingness to come to school.
