REMINDER

First Day of Term 3 is Monday 15th July 2024

END OF TERM 2

As we reach the end of another successful term that seems to have gone way too fast, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the many highlights and accomplishments we have enjoyed together.

Our swimming program was an amazing success this term. It was wonderful to see our students develop their skills, confidence, and enthusiasm in the water. The progress they have made is wonderful, and we are all incredibly proud of their efforts and dedication.

The student-led conferences were another significant highlight. These conferences provided an opportunity for our students to take ownership of their learning and share their progress with their families. The level of preparation and self-reflection demonstrated by our students was inspiring, and it was beautiful to see such active engagement in their educational journeys. Thank you to all our families that came along.

This term, we also had AFL clinics, which brought great excitement to our school. Our students not only learned new skills but also enjoyed the spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.

The Parents, Carers, and Community Fete was a resounding success, bringing together our wonderful community for an afternoon of fun, connection, and celebration. It was delightful to see so many families , enjoying the stalls, and strengthening our community bonds. Your involvement and support were instrumental in making this event memorable, despite the wet conditions.

A special highlight this term was the extended artist project in partnership with Kaiela Arts, involving our Koorie Grade 5/6 students. This collaborative project provided our students with an extraordinary opportunity to engage deeply with Indigenous art and culture, guided by talented artists from Kaiela Arts. The resulting artwork was not only beautiful but also a meaningful expression of our students' connection to their heritage.

Lastly, I want to acknowledge the incredible support for our community pantry initiative. We love seeing you all here on a Friday afternoon topping up on grocery items with the help of our terrific student helpers- they love doing it so much. It's such a lovely feel out there on those afternoons

We were also incredibly proud to announce that our school had been honored with the Marrung Award for Positive Climate for Learning. This award recognises our efforts to create an inclusive, supportive, and positive environment for all students. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire school community, and we were so grateful to be acknowledged for fostering such a nurturing climate.

As we look forward to the next term, I am filled with optimism and excitement for the continued growth and achievements of our students. Thank you for your ongoing commitment and partnership in making Gowrie St a place of excellence and care.

DUE TO NAIDOC WEEK BEING IN THE HOLIDAYS WE WILL HAVE OUR CELEBRATION DAY ON FRIDAY 26th JULY. FAMILIES ARE INVITED AND WE WILL SEND INFORMATION HOME IN THE FIRST WEEK OF TERM 3
